In Noorwegen duurt de opschudding voort over het feit dat de platenmaatschappij van popzangeres Lene Marlin de peperdure Anton Corbijn inhuurde, en niet een Noorse fotograaf.

Was it really necessary to burn off a fortune to shoot a few simple pictures of a small Tromsø girl?

Rock photograph Stian Andersen underscores that it's not so much about the photo quality as it is about the prestige you get for free, by letting Corbijn depict Marlin. "This is about indicating for each and all that Lene Marlin is a superstar. That's why they're using Corbijn," comments Stian Andersen, who doesn't want to make a guess about how much they've spent on the Marlin pictures. However, he's certain that is in the range of several hundred thousands."

In comparison, Norwegian photographers usually get something like ten or thirty thousand nkr for a similar job. And sometimes less than that as well.

Bjørn Opsahl agrees: "Lene has sold over a million records, and thus is in the division where you suddenly can afford something like that. This is probably mostly about the credibility you get with it by hiring Anton Corbijn. And judging from the Marlin-pictures we have seen up until now, it tastes a bit like left-hand work from Corbijn's side. He's been much better previously."
